about us
OUR CLUB
Tri Village RCers (TVRC) is an AMA chartered and sanctioned Club (number 277) dedicated to promoting the hobby of model aviation. Our primary goal is to promote safety while flying RC model aircraft. Along with another club (NWRCC), we also fund and schedule maintenance on the model airfield to keep it in flightworthy condition through regular grass cutting and annual rolling. For more information about the AMA visit the Academy of Model Aeronautics at www.modelaircraft.org
While building and flying radio-controlled model aircraft is fun, even better is the comradery and friendship from others having the same interests. Our members fly all types of RC aircraft including Trainers, Fun Fly, Warbirds, Aerobatic, and Pattern. Sizes range from small foamy to giant scale. Many of our members are also builders. Whether you are a builder, flyer, warbird enthusiast, aerobatic enthusiast, or just love airplanes (plane crazy) there are more just like you here.
We hold several flying events throughout the season in addition to cookouts and an annual banquet. One annual event is also very successful at helping our community. Many of our members present a strong showing at nearby Warbird, IMAC, and Pattern events. We hold informative regular monthly meetings, publish a monthly newsletter, and just have fun enjoying this great hobby together.
WHERE WE MEET
We meet at the Schaumburg Barn, 231 Civic Dr, Schaumburg, IL 60193 on the first Thursday of each month. Pre-meeting comradery starts at 6:00 p.m. Official meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. In addition to normal club business and event planning, we often have informative sessions, raffles, show and tells, tech talks, and occasional guest speakers. Upcoming nearby events for Warbirds, IMAC, Pattern, and other aviation related topics are also discussed.
WHERE WE FLY
Poplar Creek Model Airplane Flying Field, 3099 Shoe Factory Rd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60010 is our regular flying field with several events held throughout the season. These events include annual picnics, IMAC contests, Pattern contests, Frozen finger flyers chili fests, and the annual “turkey drop” contest to name just a few.
The location provides grass runways and pit area, Spectator area, Setup Tables, Startup Stands, and Porta-Pot. This is a Forest Preserve District of Cook County airfield and accordingly all pilots must provide proof of a current Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) membership. This airfield is an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA). Turbine aircraft are not allowed at this location.
WANT TO JOIN US?
Whether you are an experienced flyer or just interested in learning about RC model airplanes we would love to see you at the Schaumburg Barn. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month.
